Stewart,

Sometimes (and there seems to be no predictability about this)  the K2 does
not take kindly to too many commands sent in one go especially when a band
change is involved in the string.

To test your character strings in Hyperterminal use the paste buffer to send
the strings fast, rather than typing slowly.
