Hi Bob,
            I had similar problems with the TPA setting changing , and it 
appeared to be caused mainly by my transmitting into a high SWR ( like 
changing bands and not tuning for it on a manual ATU)  I have never had the 
problem again since I got the KAT100 ATU.
However, I *did* reduce the problem before getting the KAT100, by grounding 
the shield of the KPA100 amp securely to the side panels, and filling in 
the gap that was in the shield around the SO239 socket and grounding the 
SO239 base solidly to the shield with a short bracket.
These alterations are incorporated in later issue KPA100's and may not be 
an issue for you.
