L. B. Cebik is the most prolific antenna modeler out there and has a
complete write up on HOHPL, Horizontally Oriented, horizontally polarized
loops.

His models at 40 feet will be similar as you lower the antenna, It only gets
more of a big blob on 80m.
Mostly vertical.   Where the 80m loop can help you on Field Day is at 20 m
and up, even 40m.

Above the one wave loop frequency, you start to get both low angle and
higher angle lobes.   The loop must be symmetric for best results in all
directions.   20 feet high is ideal, and not all that hard to do, if you use
trees and street light poles.
