Dave,

I can get my recent K2 built and calibrated about two months back to give
the same change of the last digit on the full display (10Hz steps) when changing
tuning steps (RATE). I had seen this pop up on odd occasions when going
from different tuning rates, but could not pin down the mechanics of it.

Now seem to be able to duplicate the effect on a regular basis with the
following steps:

1. Set the display on 10Hz steps and zero the last digit of the display.
2. TAP the RATE button once to remove the last two display digits and the
tuning rate to 1kHz steps.
3. Turn the VFO at this 1kHz rate to another setting.
4. TAP the RATE button once to add the first of the last two digits on
the display and the tuning rate to 100Hz steps.
5. Turn the VFO at this 100Hz rate to another setting.
6. TAP the RATE button once to add the last digit of the display and the
tuning rate to 10Hz steps. Find the last digit now reads 5 even though it was
left on zero.

There may be other ways of duplicating the effect though not stumbled on to
those as yet. Seem to remember there was a discussion on what could be a
similar topic about a month or two back in regard to exactly setting of the BFO
or some other preset frequencies during calibration and it was said to be
related to the resolution of the ADC in the K2.
