Don,
First, make certain the RF gain is set fully clockwise when measuring the
voltage. Then if you are still unable to obtain the correct voltage, you
can be certain that one of 3 things is wrong - 1) an incorrect resistor
value - RP6, the threshold trimmer and the RF gain pot are the only
components involved; 2) there is a bad solder connection - check RP6 and the
other components above, P1 (pin 6) on the control board, J6 pin 6 on the RF
board, P1 pin 19 on the RF board, and P1 pin 19 on the Front panel board; 3)
the 8A voltage on the Control board is too low - check for 8 volts at pin 8
of U2.
This is simply a resistive divider with 3 legs from U2 pin 5, and if all the
above are correct, you should have no trouble obtaining 3.8 volts at U2 pin
5 (check soldering at U2 pin 5 too).
