[Elecraft] Need a little help

Morning folks:

A friend of mine is working with a newly built K2 and is experiencing
a raspy quality to his audio in CW.  This is more noticeable in the
higher bands.  ( above 20 )

He's done some testing and has found that he can eliminate this raspy
quality of a CW note when he has his DSP set to the narrowest
position.   He tells me this is related to CW and is not noted when in
either SSB mode.

He first thought that anything 20 and below was not affected by this
problem but has taken his antenna off and notes that when band noise
is removed,  the a similar noise is present.

I've ask him to first eliminate any noise source in his shack.

In the event he is NOT picking up interference from another source,
where do you guys think he should go next.

I've not seen this particular situation that I remember so I'm at a
loss as to what he should be looking at.    Why just in CW ?????
Why is it worse on weak signals ?????
Why is it worse on higher bands?????

Just thought I would run this one by you all and get your opinion.
