Hi ,
For those interested in the solder thread, have a look on
www.interfluxusa.com .
They have a wide range of solders available with halide free flux that
might be of interest.
I have been using the 1mm 60/40 on projects lately and find it pretty
good....except for one fact that would be a bind doing an Elecraft kit. I
find it hopeless for tinning torroids as it has insufficient flux to tin
them properly.
On a new board, the solder has a bit of a dull finish to it and very little
flux residue, but I can't fault the "wetting" ability of it. It will wick
through the plated holes nicely.
You will just have to have some crummy old high flux content solder put
aside to do your torroids if you get some.
Once again.......it is not the recommended solder for an Elecraft kit, but
it seems a quality product . Don't blame me if you get some and ain't
happy with it!!
Cheers......Ron ZL1TW
