[Elecraft] More on NB problem.

Hi all,
Another morning and new approaches made to isolate my NB
"problem" ( Thanks to Don and Vic who sent suggestions)
I have now isolated the problem down to the fact that when I unplug the ATU
power source *or* the I/O cable to it, the NB works just fine from either
power jack. Where I was fooling myself last night came about by my
unplugging the ATU power source to power up the K2 from J3.
So.......what's happening? The ATU works fine, the I/O works fine ( can
control the rig from software) the DSP is working ....just the NB has gone
"soft" on me. It used to work fine, so something has changed, and I am
certainly not naive enough to discount a crook solder joint.
The only Mod I have done recently was catching up with KAT100 Manual Errata
Dec.4. 2002 (rev. A-3) where a resistor is added to the VRFDET line on
the control board. My ATU was shipped in Nov 2002 and I am sure that never
mentioned the additional resistor R12. However I can't see that mod having
any bearing on the current problem.
I am still open to helpful suggestions before I pull Gary in on this
one.....or wildly resolder joints associated with the AUXBUS.
Cheers.......Ron ZL1TW
