I've learned that the fastest tuning rate and a light touch on the knob
while "scanning" is the best. If you first go to the slowest tuning rate =
and
make sure you are on "000" (exact KHz) or - if your calibration is a tad =
bit
off - adjust the tuning using the slowest rate to bring in a station
perfectly - you can then go to the fastest rate and stations will just =
pop
in perfectly when you hit their frequency. The fastest tuning rate is in =
5
kHz steps, which matches the normal separation of the broadcast =
stations.=20

Yeah, the little 3 digit display sometimes has me lost. Just tap BAND =
(Don't
hold it or you'll change bands!). The display will go to the MHz, then
automatically step down to KHz or hundred Hz. For example 6875 tuned in =
5
KHz (fastest rate) steps would display 6 when you tap MHz, then switch =
back
to 875 to show you the KHz.=20

It works automatically for the slower tuning rates too. Say you are on
7041.4 KHz as displayed in the slowest tuning rate. Tapping MHz will =
cause
the display to show 7, then it will automatically show 041, and finally
41.4.=20

Finally got my KX1 #341 up and running and was just wondering if there =
is an
easy way to keep track of the SWL stations and the easiest way to tune =
them
in, other than just tuning up or down to the requested station. I seem =
to
loose track of what section of the band I am in when trying to get far =
up or
far down from the ham bands. The manual really does not fill you in too
much.... Aron NN1F Bedford, NH KX-1 #341
