Ok, maybe this is old news for some of you guys, but, I can't believe
that I'm actually getting out and being heard on 160m! After I put my
son to bed this evening, I decided to "play" in the 160m CQ 'Test. I'm
running here a little guy station here with my K2 5w to an 80ft
longwire at abt 30ft. With this setup, I never thought to try to
operate on 160m because of the antenna. In fact when I threw the wire
in the tree, I tried tuning up 160m and never got the SWR below 2.5 : 1
and usually it was 3-4:1. Well, it might just be that the conditions
are favorable tonite or more likely that the ELECRAFT MOJO is flowing!
I was knocking off the big guys one after another on the first call
with only one or two repeats needed on my call! All at 5W to a piece
of junk wire antenna! I'm really excited about this and had to share
it with the group.

Also the K2 has got to be one of the best CW contest machines as VERY
strong adjacent signals don't swamp the receiver and actually are
perfectly copiable. I found that with all the filtering options, I was
able to pick out signals with ease and did not miss the passband tuning
of my Icom too much. More MOJO!

Ok, thanks for reading guys and now back to the 'test.... Yippee!

Rich
