Realligned my K2 today. I used the following setup:
K2 <----> Wattmeter <---> 50 Ohm Load
Wattmeter is a Yaesu YS-60 and gives correct readings on factory new =
radios. Everything was as expected. The power display on the K2 matches =
that on the forward SWR reading on the wattmeter. On 10m I'm geting 10 =
watts - OK my toroids may not be perfect, but that's not the critical =
issue here.
Then I set it up as follows:
K2 <--> Wattmeter <---> Antenna switch <---> HF Antenna
Now I know my antenna is well tuned, especially on 28 MHz, but now I get =
the wattmeter showing 10 watts and the K2 power display reaching a =
maximum of 6.0.
Hmmmm.... I then set it up as follows:
K2 <--> Wattmeter <---> HF Antenna
The K2 and wattmeter both display 10 watts out (as expected).
I then do the following:
K2 <--> HF Antenna
The K2 and displays 10 watts out (as expected).
So the investigation reveals something fishy in the antenna switch. But =
the question is ... why would the K2 show a reading different to that on =
the wattmeter when the switch is in-line - - if its effectively giving =
the 6 watts out, why is the wattmeter showing 10? I know the wattmeter =
works fine because it scales nice and linearly with the K2 when the =
antenna switch is not in-=E6line?
