No mystery here. The reciever alignment is done to test the receiver. At the
time it is done, you don't HAVE a transmitter with which to test. Later on,
you do. The "Elecraft Way" is to test as you go. So, since you don't [yet]
have a transmitter, align the best you can. Later, you will have Tx and can
do a better job.

It's not a compromise.
