Is there an easy way to demagnetize tools?  How?

The tip of an ordinary soldering GUN has quite a strong alternating magnetic
field that can be used to degauss small items.  To degauss a small object,
activate the gun away from the object then move the tip towards the object.
Wave the energized tip around the object a few times then move the tip away
from the object before deactivating the soldering gun. Ta Da!

If that doesn't work you can remove the soldering gun's tip and replace it
with a coil of wire; say 10 turns of #18(?) with a diameter of two or three
inches. Instead insert the object into the center of the loop for greatest
affect.
