I picked up one of the Griffin PowerMate knobs for use with the N4PY
software and the K2 the other day. Finally got things working properly and
the result is better than expected. The Griffin is a nice sized (1.75"
diameter) aluminum knob with a soft plastic base that stays put on the
desktop. You plug it into a USB port on your PC and then define the
programmable functions in the N4PY software. I have mine set up to tune the
VFO, change the VFO tuning step size (when press down on the knob) and
change the filter selected (when press down for longer time). The knob is
constructed in such a way that you could fasten it to a vertical panel with
velcro or double-sided tape if desired. I understand that the Ham Radio
Deluxe software, which already has pretty complete support for the K2, will
be adding full Griffin knob support very soon.
