I use a Pelican Case to carry on my K1. That way if for some reason I
have to
check it (hasn't happened yet) there is some hope that the rig will
survive.
I do wish that I hadn't bought the orange colored case though .. it
seems to
attract a lot of unnecessary attention from security (has been opened
many
times but I never needed to remove the contents).

I think that when carrying on electronics there is a big benefit to
packing gear
such that when it go through the X-ray machine things are in a single
layer
as it allows the person working the X-ray machine to get clear distinct
images.
If you throw a bunch of wires and batteries and radios into a bag it
ends up
looking a lot more threatening as you can't see where one things starts
and
the other ends.

P.S. I pack my Buddipole in my checked luggage as I am always worried
that
the aluminum arms look too much like a potential weapon to carry on.

BTW there was a thread on the Buddipole group where a Buddipole owner
had a break-in and the only thing taken from his shack was his Buddipole
in the nylon bag ... he figured that the thief must have thought it was
a
disassembled rifle!
