[Elecraft] Mobile, AL QRP Ops

All,

Despite the damp weather, eight QRP ops from around the Mobile area gathered
at K4ZM's place yesterday and had a very nice time.

Present were Bill K4VIB, Dave AB9CA, Johnny KD4ORO, Ken N4SO, Larry W4DEC,
John WA8HSB, Jim K4ZM and yours truly.

Jim had quite a display of QRP rigs and goodies on his pool table.  Everyone
brought a little something for show and tell.  Some of the rigs were a K2, a
KX1, a Red Hot 20, Sierra Wilderness, MFJ 9040, MFJ Cub and a MultiPig Plus.
Homebrew goodies included a DDS based VFO, Azscqrpions key, pc board paddles
& keyer, 10 mHz freq standard, and a noise generator.  There was also an
Elecraft KPA100 mounted in and EC2 enclosure (droooool).  We talked, looked,
touched and ate for a couple of hours.  It doesn't get any better than that.

Jim showed us the video from the RACCOONS trip to Middle Bay lighthouse in
1993 for field day.  RACCOONS is the acronym for Radio Amateurs CW Contest
Operators Operating in Natural Surroundings.

Thanks to Jim for providing a place for a very fun afternoon and thanks to
the local QRP group for showing the interest.  We are making plans to get
together again in March.  If you find yourself down in our neck of the
woods, make plans to join us.
