You can replace the ear foam with drug store ear protectors. There is =
at
least one web site which is devoted to modifying the Koss earphones =
rather
than spending >$100 for a truly good set.

I bought the Koss ear buds & I could not keep them in my ears. They just
would not stay no matter which rubber pad I used. Paid $20. for them at
Best Buy.
I took them back & got the Sony ear buds that have foam instead of the =
soft
rubber. These were half the price & Sony comes with a neat roll up case.
Specifications were just a little better than the Sony, but not enough =
that
you could tell. =20
I had some other Sony ear buds at home that I compared with the Koss & I
couldn't tell the difference with them either.
