[Elecraft] speaker impedance

Hi John
I've used an external speaker with my K2, s/n 12, ever since I built it.
I use an acoustic speaker/filter, made from a thick plastic drinking glass
with a round speaker set into it. I don't recall the speaker impedance,
but I didn't worry about it. I just made it work and let it go at that.
Mine resonates right around 560 Hz, just perfect for cw, which is all I run
anyway.
Give it a try.

Subject: [Elecraft] speaker impedance
How can i go bout hooking up a speaker for the k2 other than a 4 Ohm 3 Watt
that comes with it. I eventually will order one for 5$ from their parts
order page and put it in a box. Whenever I take off the top its anoying to
stack up books to plug in one from one of the 2 tops, plus it takes up all
the room I have to work with. So I thought i would just put a speaker in a
box with a 3ft speaker wire and connector for the internal speaker
connector. Also wont have to use headphones. I know Im weird. Until I
order the Elecraft speaker wanted to try some I already had lying around.
I have some 8ohm .5W computer speakers and a 8ohm .25W speaker. Could these
be used as is or with some modification. Also hoping someone could kind of
explain what imdedance is to me. I believe its the resistance of the speaker
itself, but I could be wrong.
