You're not alone. I had the same problem.
I also had problems with the plug not screwing into it's threaded hole. If the USPS has done it's job, the guys at Elecraft are looking at it now. When I get the bracket back, I'll probably use some Loctite on it instead of the lock washers, if I even need that.
