Your plan sounds perfect for a CW opr, Bill.

Elecraft has done a great job of making the add-on modules independent, =
so
there's no real advantage in doing one before another as far as I know. =
It's
a matter of what features you want to have available first.=20

There is on thing to consider, though. The other modules plug into the =
basic
K2 boards. The connectors that go on the basic K2 boards are NOT =
supplied
with the K2. This holds down the cost for those ops who don't want all =
the
add-ons. The connectors are supplied with the add-on modules. It will
simplify the build if you install those connectors as you build the =
basic
K2. Then, when you're ready to add this module or that, you won't have =
to go
back and install the associated connectors.=20

I believe the K2 build instructions has "flags" in the text when it =
would be
good to install the add-on module connectors. It's been four years since =
I
built my K2 so I can't say for certain <G>.=20

Subject: [Elecraft] K2 Options

While waiting on the basic K2 ordered Dec 31, I'm thinking about =
ordering
one of the options to build in the meantime to ease the pain. Since may
passion is QRP and my mode of choice is Morse, my first selection of =
options
will be to enhance these two parameters. However, my intentions are to
eventually incorporate all of the factory options at some future time.

Are there advantages (or disadvantages) in the order that these options
(offered by Elecraft) are built and installed in the K2?) I think I =
would
like to start with K160RX, the 160 meter option, to complete the band
selection. Then, KA2 ATU, etc...

Thanks,
Bill - W7WEL
