[Elecraft] K1 DC Voltage checks

This refers to page 30 of the K1 manual, first DC voltage checks, where
Plug 1 pin 15 has no voltage of 6 volts, and
K1 MANUAL ERRATA refers to RF choke 8 Jumper wire. The
shorting wire is installed and all test points should show correct
voltages at the four test points.

As has been pointed out, the manual has you erroneously performing these
checks before a jumper has been installed in place of RFC8 on the RF
board
(RFC8 is included only with a 80m band parts kit for the two-band filter
board). The K1 MANUAL ERRATA sheet for your manual points that out.
(The K1 ERRATA sheet may be stapled to
the "Thanks for purchasing sheet", and the ORDER FORM.)
(This ERRATA sheet needs to be separated and notes written into the
appropriate pages)

That is why one **never** **ever** starts on a kit before all the info
from
the errata sheet has been entered to correct the manual.

However, the edition of the K1 manual with this problem has been on the
streets now for **two** years. It's probably time for Elecraft to
consider
making the required changes to the manual to eliminate the need for an
errata sheet. The K1 is a very mature design now.

Also, it would seem appropriate to include RFC8 in the standard kit,
rather
than as a part that only comes with a particular band parts kit. If
there
are some kit configurations that require RFC8 (or any other part), and if
having that part installed creates no other problems, it should be part
of
the kit.

In my opinion, of course.
