Hi, Steve

Any "bipolar" transistor like Q6 is essentially two diodes, back to back
with the base the common connection, so you can test it as two diodes as
follows. If you have a diode check function on your DMM, use it. =
Otherwise
use Ohms range.=20

1 - Put the positive DMM lead on the base and you should find a forward
biased diode (conduction) to the emitter and a reverse-biased diode (no
conduction) to the collector.=20

2 - Put the negative DMM lead on the base and it's reversed - no =
conduction
(reverse biased) to the emitter and conduction (forward biased) to the
collector.

If it passes those tests, you can be 90% sure it survived the event!

(A word of warning to anyone with an old-style volt-ohmmeter with a =
meter
movement. Be careful doing this. Most older instruments used voltages =
and
allowed currents that would destroy many transistors. Modern Digital
Multimeters -DMMs - are specifically designed not to damage =
transistors).=20

-----Original Message-----
anyone know how to test the Q6 PA out of circuit....I wired the T1 wrong =
and
ended up burning up R30 and not sure if the Q6 was shorted or damaged.

tnx
