The shoulders will go down to the top of the socket so there is no (or =
only
a very, very tiny) space showing. With a low-profile socket like this, =
it
can take some pressure. Hold the board with thumb or fingers supporting =
it
under the socket and thumb or fingers pressing down on the IC and =
squeeze,
working you way along the IC and from side to side.
If it won't go all the way down, pull the IC and inspect each socket =
hole
with a magnifier and strong light, looking for any sign of solder in the
hole. If too much solder is applied while soldering the pins to the =
board,
it can wick up into the hole for that pin. If you've got solder in one,
you'll need to replace the socket.

-----Original Message-----
I have been having problems with my KX1's receiver and the support =
people
asked me to check if the main IC is fully sitting in the socket. (I'm at
work and I can't think of it's part # - the large IC which sits in a =
socket)
I think it is in all the way, but there is a small space between the =
pin's
shoulders and the socket. Is this ok or should it be inserted further so
that there shoulders reach the tops of the sockets? Any help would be
appreciated.
