The transmitter frequency is controlled by the VFO and BFO oscillators.
Most likely, in your case, the BFO is being modulated by the side tone
output at U8 pin 4. Since the volume setting doesn't matter, coupling =
from
U10B is not likely. Instead, for this to happen, signal must be coupled
to U8 pin 16 through ground, or some other way to U10D. This should not
be happening. Check the solder connection at U8 pin 14 and pin 12. =
Make
sure no trace of side tone reaches U10D pin 14.
