[Elecraft] KX1 #336 Receiver Problem

Hi group,
Just completed part 2 of the assembly (receiver section) and am finding
something strange while tuning on BOTH bands. First of all there is a lot of
clicking noises while turning the encoder shaft. Also as I tune slowly
(either at the 10Hz or 100Hz rate) it seems that a signal jumps out of
nowhere and then completely disappears at the next stepped frequency. If I
go back 1 step I can't find the signal. It is like something intermittently
turns on and off as I tune. I have adjusted the band pass filters for both
bands.
I'm supplying 13.8V and listening on a G5RV Jr.
