[Elecraft] DSP noise

Keep in mind that the K1 has a more extensive audio amplifier chain.
The K2 has a single audio PA, while the K1 uses essentially the K2 audio
PA as a driver and has a second audio PA for output.

Subject: [Elecraft] DSP noise

This afternoon I made a couple of comparisons between my K2 with KAF, K2
with DSP and my K1.

Antenna was a 30 ft wire and I tuned to a station on 3533 kHz. Initially I
could barely hear this station with the K2 and DSP, while it was loud and
clear on the K1. After installing the KAF in the K2 it was better, but the
K1 still had the best signal. Changing the K2 back to DSP, cranking the RF
gain wide open and switching on the noise reduction made the signals about
equal, but the quality of the tone was still much better in the K1.

I know, not the most scientific method, but something is wrong with the K2 !
Any hints appreciated.

The DSP chip has a small label with 316 on it, all settings are per
manual(s).
