Sverre:
I tried the 1.9 Khz. filter mods and consistently got reports of "wierd" =
audio -- not distorted or objectionable, just not natural sounding. I =
have since changed to the 2.5 Khz. mod and now get reports of excellent =
TX audio. These tests were done with a selection of Heil MICs, =
including a Goldline PRO.
I find the 2.5 Khz. mod to be the best overall choice and I did not find =
the wider receive filter to be a problem under moderate band conditions =
-- I judged the stock KSB2 and 2.5 Khz. settings to be almost the same. =
I suspect the DSP will help with crowded band conditions somewhat, but =
only at the audio level.
My question to the reflector group: My operating is 99% SSB -- has =
anyone tried modifiying the stock filter K2 filter to provide a smoother =
response at wider bandwidths? I realize this will degrade the CW =
performance, but I find the stock K2 filter response curve poor at =
bandwidths greater than 1.2 Khz (when monitoring with Spectrogram). A =
smoother response curve would allow me to use the KSB2 filter (OP 1) for =
transmit (and general SSB receive) and use the stock K2 filter for =
narrow receive filtering under crowded conditions (as switched in with =
different FL settings).
Someone with better filter design skills than me needs to tackle this =
...
