[Elecraft] CW Testing

It's trying to see how many people think that a given issue is NUMBER
ONE. It's an ancient polling technique well documented in the
statistical literature. Works best when the list is large, number of
votes is large, and the list contains all the hot button issues.

When the numbers are all in, it will not be missed that *BOTH* BPL and
CW testing are up there, as indeed it shows already.

What has been shown ** FOR LARGE SAMPLES ** is that the spread of
results from getting 1,2,3,4, etc. from EACH person polled, versus the
spread of people's # 1 issue, will show the same number one, or the
same statistical tie, and will show any close competitors in the same
order.

This does not work for small groups, where having people mark 1,2,3
gives a better sense of the spread of issues. Thus the technique in
focus groups that can all sit down in a single room.

Instead of voting I sent this message to the President of the ARRL,
Jim
Haynie ([email protected]):

What an ABSURD "survey" on the ARRL Web site this month!!!

It asks for a vote no whether to continue CW testing or ban the spread
of
BPL.

Why didn't you include "Ban SSB on the HF bands" so the survey would
"prove"
that no Hams wanted SSB because they are more concerned with the
spread of
BPL???

CW Testing and BPL have nothing to do with each other.

Vote in the ARRL web survey <http://www.arrl.org/>.

The question is in regards to retention of CW testing.
