K2 SN4011 does not have the mic connector grounded.
I just purchased a model HLA 150 amplifer which is made my RM ITALY. It is
distributed to the USA by Durham Radio in Ontario Canada. It is a solid state
amplifier with built in lowpass filters installed for 160 through 10 meters
including the Warc bands. It has a bandswitch where you can manually select the
filter or there is an auto position where the amplifier senses the frequency
and automatically switches to the right low pass filter (and it works great).
It also has a 3 db pad build in that is switchable from the front panel that
can be used to help control drive power (3db means it cuts the drive power in
half). It also has a delay circuit that can be switched in to proved
semi-vox. It has an automatic rf sense so you don't have to key the amplifier up ....
it takes care of itself. However, it does have a plug in the back if you
want to control the in/out relay manually. The microprocessor controlled systems
seems to work great so I don't see any reason to use the manual switch. I
see no delay or chopping of first character on the scope. With that said, 5
watts drive puts out a solid 100 watts everywhere. 10 watts it goes right up to
the rated power of 150 watts on every band 160 through 10 meters. This thing
works great with the radio.
I don't want to discourage the K100 sales. it is a fine product. The K100
goes right into the K2 and makes a nicely integrated small package. However, I
like to take my K2 with me with the internal battery and antenna tuner. Plus I
own a K-1 and an FT-817 and the HLA 150 works great with them also. It is
truly plug and play. You hook up 12 volts to it ... put the solid state amp in
the coax line and instant 150 watts.
