Earl, this did occur to me as soon as I sent my message. I believe you
are right, that transmitted noise was contributing to what I was
hearing.=20

I am finally getting my shack back in order after the move and am close
to a point where I can test the susceptibility to magnetic fields from
big transformers because I do have an amp that I can test with. I guess
I can let you know what I find and see if it contributes any to the
collective knowledge.
