What may sound like phase noise could be the on the transmitted signal
due to proximity of the K2 to a power transformer. This "noise" is much
worse if the K2/100 is driving a linear amp because of the greater
magnetic field from the amp's transformer.
My amp, an Alpha 76CA, has a hypersil transformer which produces an even
larger field and I cannot get rid of the transmitted "noise" with the K2
even six feet from the amp. Moving the K2/100 to another room about 30
feet from the amp "cured" the problem, but that answer is unacceptable.
Eric was going to look into this and try it with his Alpha 99 (which also
uses a hypersil transformer). I'm still waiting to hear from him on
this.
Meanwhile, I confine my K2/100 operation to barefoot, so as not to arouse
the wrath of my neighboring hams.
