Jerry-
In the course of my dealings as Toroid Guy, I see my share of European and
Canadian business. So far I have not had a problem with any of the various
money orders and bank checks that I have been sent. The key is to have the
funds sent as USD.
There may be a waiting period while a foreign check clears, but a bank
shouldn't charge a fee for this service. The one exception is the bank
draft. This typically entails a hefty charge ($10-$15) assessed to both
parties and should be avoided unless the sender agrees to pay all associated
fees and makes arrangements to do so on his or her end. The Western Union
money transfer is another option. It is relatively expensive for the sender
of such payment, but has no associated charges on the seller's end.
