Hi Martin:
>This is the first time, i completely disagree with you ;-)
Disagreement is often good, however, this time I think I may have
misunderstood YOUR question, and then you misunderstood MY response... and
I'm not certain we really are in disagreement...
There is NO QUESTION at all that the Key Click Mod is GOOD for EITHER the
QRP K2 _or_ for the QRO K2...!!!
What I was trying to say (but apparently failed) was that the key click mod
will probably be somewhat MORE noticeable and mprobably more effective for
those using the K2/100 than those using the barefoot K2.
This is because, in my experience (the past 5 years of using the K2), I
NEVER (repeat, 'never') received a key click report when running 15W or
less, BUT that I did (and have) received some key click reports when
running the K2/100 AND more recently the K2/100 driving my Alpha 76PA amp.
Since that time, I've double- and triple-checked the CW waveform from my K2
in QRP, QRP (100W) and QRO (1KW) modes. The waveform was no different from
one power level to the other... at least with respect to the sharpness of
the 'elbows'... so the clicks were there in all modes... I just never
received a report of them until I went to the higher power levels.
It is not a question of whether the mod removes the clicks... it does! But
(for me at least) it HAS been a question of how strongly my signs were
being received by the other stations that made them notice the key clicks.
>All this with only 2 Watts from K2 #2706, just enough to swing the
>s-meter of my TS 850 (400hz Inrad-Filters in both I.F,s) to S9.
>It is not a scientific method, IMO it is a real world method.

>How often do you hear a 599+20db signal from a qrp-rig on, say, 80m? Quite
>often, i think.
Probably not terribly often, but this might be because the only time I'm
QRP on 80M is during certain CW contests and not during normal QSOs.
Though I must say that most of the QRP signals I hear on 80M are NOT
599+20, but they certainly CAN run 589 with no problem.
>I will record a .wav-file as soon as my K2 has the mod.
>It is on order already.
And I am fairly certain you will be pleased with the results.
