[Elecraft] KXAT1 alignment help, please?

   I'm building this for someone else - mine went just
great, and none of these issues came up. Go figure...


    On p.7 in the manual, Alignment and Test, item
six, it tells us to set the ATU parameter to CAL,
using the menu. It doesn't say to exit the menu.

   Then, after a few more directions, following which
you set R1&2, get the DVM leads to the right contact
points and so on, it says, item #11, "Enter TUNE mode
by holding MENU and BAND together..." Well, you can't
enter TUNE that way, of course, you have to exit the
menu first.

   So I exit the menu, go into TUNE mode, and find the
low point with C9 - it's about 13V. Then I try the
tuner across a 50 ohm load, and get 2.8:1 on 20M, and
9.9:1 on 40M.

   Waaaahhhh!!!

   The troubleshooting guide says that if the SWR is
off, either the load isn't 50 ohms, or C9 is set
wrong. Since my load is fine...it's about 50.4
ohms...perhaps I'm doing something wrong in setting
C9? Could this be a malfunctioning component?
