I haven't used mine since ~1960, but hopefully the crystal element is
still good--I don't know what would cause them to age.

I got my D104 in 1953 and added the G-stand later.  Around 1956 I
accidently knocked the mike off the edge of my operating table,
breaking the element.  I sent the head back to Astatic asking them to
notify me how much to send for replacement and shipping.  About
10 days later I received it back in the mail, repaired at no charge!
