Rich,
Have you solved the VRFDET (and VALC) that you reported yesterday problem
first?
If you have not, the tests following will give you 'funny' results such as
you are now seeing.
For some reason, the microprocessor is exiting transmit mode. That means it
THINKS there is some BAD conditions at its input, and is shutting the
transmit down after that 20 ms period.
The most likely source of your problem is soldering. Check soldering, then
check soldering and finally check soldering! Check the control board over
carefully and check the soldering to the control board sockets on the RF
board.
Check that all pins of the microprocessor are properly inserted into the
socket and none are bent under or sticking out. Re-check the orientation of
diodes too.

1. Ref page 45, keyer test. I don't get sidetones when I try and key the
rig with a keyer (bug). I AM in CW mode !!. However when I do the menu
entry to set sideone, I get control of and hear both the level change and
the sidetone frequency change, so U8 pins 1 and 4, and Q5 on the control
board are working.
2. Checking Q1 and Q2 on the control board. When I try and key, the
voltage 8R goes to zero, the voltage for 8T goes high for about 20
milliseconds, then drops. I do hear a blip in the headphones. If I set the
keyer to HAND, and hold the key down, the DOT/PTT line to pin 29 of U6 on
the control board goes to zero and stays as long as I hold the key down. U6
pin 27 goes high for about 20 milliseconds and repeats the cycle similar to
voltage 8T.
