I soldered to the pins originally, then cleaned them up and used the
header method that Tom N0SS suggested. When I got a Kenwood mike
(straight through connections on the header pins), I just pulled the
header assembly off, and used the little jumpers that you find on PC
cards.

Thanks Jay, I will take that advice. I will hit the local emporiums of
electronic witchcraft tomorrow and see what I can scam up to program the
mic. I tried to cut down some MOLEX connectors I had here but that did not
turn out well, at least on the first try. Maybe I can find a header as Tom
suggests.
