I prefer to solder the leads on after the crystal is mounted (it is the
quickest and easiest for me). 73,

I do it the same way as Don, but I have some liquid flux left over from
my employment days...I dip the tip of a dental pick into the flux and
apply it to the spot where the ground wire is touching the crystal can,
and it forms a tiny liquid bond between the wire and the can...I put a
blob of solder on the tip of the iron and touch it to the joint...The
solder immediately flows out onto the joint, probably in less that 2
seconds...I then clean the joint up with alcohol...I don't know where one
might be able to buy liquid flux formulated for electronics in a small
quantity...Mouser has it in one gallon cans for about $36... Somebody
must sell it in smaller quantities...
