[Elecraft] diode fav brand

Hi John,
I've used all of these brands at some time or another. It just depends on
the application. Do you want a low forward voltage drop, like a Schottky
diode? Or do you need a rectifier for a power supply? In that case I
would get a higher voltage diode, at least 400-600V since the cost is about
the same. Then you can handle most any rectifier application that may come
along in the future. Even if you only need a 5V power supply, you can still
use a 600V diode. Something like the 1N4004 or 1N4006 is really handy for
currents up to 1 amp. You may find those at Radio Shack.
If you have to order parts, I highly recommend Mouser. I receive orders
from them the next day here in Dallas. They are often a little cheaper than
Digikey, but Digikey is good too. I use them both.
