[Elecraft] KAT100 and K2 firmware upgrades

Eric, et al,

I wasn't aware that you guys provided a firmware upgrade 'gratis' to certain
options requiring a more recent MCU. You guys (and gals) never cease to
amaze me. I have/had the same problem when I recently purchased the KAT100
and KPA100. I assumed that my F/W was current enough because it supported
the KPA100. Oh well, that's assumptions for you. ;-)

Perhaps on your order form you could put fields for ones rig type, S/N, and
firmware information. That may make it easier for you to know what a
customer may need. It would also force us customers to actually pay
attention to that kind of stuff! Hey, it could even be used by you to keep
track of what kind of upgrades/options older rigs are getting.

Regarding my F/W issues, on the premise that I was going to have to purchase
the newest MCU, I decided to hold off until you announce (and make
available) the newest firmware for the key-click issue (non-issue?). Now
that I know that you guys would provide it (the F/W needed) free-of-charge,
I'll thank you and decline. I'll still wait until the newest F/W becomes
available and purchase it.

(Please hurry!) ;-)

Cheers,
Colin

K1 #942 - fully optioned
K2 #2833 - stuffed with all options (save the KDSP2)
KPA100 - mid construction (maybe by the weekend)
KAT100 - patiently waiting to be aligned and adjusted due to owners
incompetence to checking the K2 firmware version!
KX1 - awaiting CFO (read XYL) approval!

Hi Andy,

I apologize for any confusion on this issue. We always provide the firmware
level needed to run a newly purchased option for free when you buy it. If
you have an earlier K2 firmware revision that does support the option this
is not necessary, but if you need new firmware to make it work we will
supply the latest version.
