Appreciate the inputs. The problem is that in some kits C56 may not be a
small blue cap or C45 a round disc ceramic.=20

In the original draft of the manual, I simply showed pictures of which =
was
which - then found out that would be wrong for a lot of builders since
Elecraft may ship different styles of caps depending upon what's =
available.=20

So we used the lead spacing. That is the only difference that makes it
important to use one cap and not the other: the mechanical "fit".=20

But we found that using "lead spacing" creates its own problem, as I
mentioned to Brian off the reflector. The spacing of the leads where the
exit the body of the blue caps varies from just about 0.1" to almost =
0.2".
When manufactured, the leads are formed by a machine with small bends =
below
the body to 0.1" spacing. Unfortunately, handling the caps often bends =
the
leads so the spacing isn't so obvious by the time the builder tries to
compare them. =20

It is good to hear where people pause to wonder. The solution may not be
simple, but it keeps me thinking about better ways to describe it.

Thanks. You're right. The picture makes it clear. The text is =
confusing.
The picture in the manual is black and white, and you can't be sure. =
The
PDF on the website works much better. 73, Brian=20
