The International DX Convention (Visalia, CA) is being held this weekend. This
seems like a good time to summarize all of the changes we've made to the K2 in
the past few months, many of which will be of interest to contesting and DX
operators. (See list below.) Further information about the DX convention can be
found at:

* CLICK-FREE CW: The K2 now has among the best CW keying envelope shapes of any
transceiver. We've updated the shaping circuitry to create optimal, sigmoidal
rise/fall times.
* RUGGEDIZED KPA100: The KPA100 option (100-watt stage) has been updated, with
improved handling of high SWR loads, so that power rollback now begins at 2:1
rather than 1.5:1. There's also better RF shielding, and the manual has been
rewritten to simplify construction.
* NEW FIRMWARE FEATURES: The latest K2 firmware provides several new features:
- ONE-TOUCH RCV ANT SWITCHING (requires K160RX option); preamp and
attenuator states are stored independently for RCV ANT on/off conditions
- SIX XVTR BANDS: Now 6 fully-programmable transverter band displays
- KDSP2 NR/NOTCH SHORTCUTS: key combinations added to quickly turn DSP
NR and NOTCH on/off
- COMPUTER-CONTROL ENHANCEMENT: "RC" (RIT CLEAR) command now works in TX mode
* K2 MANUAL REWRITE: The K2 manual was recently rewritten, making the kit easier
to build than ever.
* 60-METER COVERAGE & XVTR I/O: Full coverage of the latest HF ham band,
complete
with channel scanning and manual hopping; also low-level I/O connections for
use with transverters (requires K60XV option).
