Hello all,
I am building the KPA100 and run into some trouble/questions, but didnt =
find any answers in the history of this list yet.
Hopefully someone can tell me some more...
First of all the build went well, resistor check was okee and also the =
voltage test was good. Used a arm wrist.
At the moment the KPA100 is still laying on its back next of the K2, =
without the shield and the 12VDC cable (J4).
On page 44 (KPA100/rev.C) the receiver test was ok as also the SWR =
Bridge Null adjustment (C1).
On page 45 the Power Calibration R26 and R27 went ok too (I guess, just =
did it on 5 watt output).
1) I am not sure about the Bias-Control R6... "Turn the KPA100 bias =
control, R6, fully counter-clockwise"...
Is it seen from the front or is it seen from the back of the KPA100 =
board. In other words, do I have to turn the pot R6 to the 12VDC J4 =
connection?
2) When I edit CALL TPA the speaker sounds goes away !! Am I in trouble?
After a few seconds later I also hear some switches switching in the K2 =
(sometimes just one, other times more).
I am not sure (yet) but I guess some in the LPF and some of K13-14-15 =
relais.
When I gently move the VFO knob in CALL TPA from 0c to 255c I hear one =
or more of the switches, not often but at less 5 times.
After returning from CALL TPA the sound went back, but because some of =
the switches may stay wrong at this moment I get 1.0 Watts 1:1 in LCD in =
Tune mode. After switching the band and goes back I can tune again at =
the installed 5 watt.

My K2#3195 with all the options inside(at2,ssb,dsp etc) + the KAT100EC2 =
works FB.
After upgrading the new firmware to 2.04p and the new keymod on the =
controlboard it still works FB.
For calibrating the KPA100 I left connected the 160m, nb, ssb and the =
DSP in the K2.
Does anybody know what could happen when I edit CALL TPA menu entry ?
I checked for incorrectly-installed diodes and/or IC's but all are ok.
Find no solder bridges. Where to start next ?
