[Elecraft] K1 1815 getting close to work

Hi friends.
My K1 1815 is finally getting close to work. Building was slow because I 
spent a month in hospital....reading the Owner's Manual!
K1 receives well on all bands but nothing, YET, on 40 meters...(where did I 
make this mistake???? :-) ) Any suggestion?
Now getting ready to test the transmit part, page 19 of the KFL1-4 manual. 
I am wondering why Elecraft chose to use a BNC connector instead of a Pl259 
one?  Building K1 is a lot of fun....I'm already thinking about the K2
