KX1 rear cover problem is solved thanks to a hint from Paul, w0rw.

I loosened the screw on the front that holds the standoff
located near the BNC and then put on the back cover,
installed the knurled screws and then retightened the front panel
screw. There was enough play to compensate and now
it fits just fine.

P.S. Don't plug your headphones into the KX1 key jack!
Just did that ... ouch!  The phones and the rig are ok
and I'm sure that my hearing will eventually recover ;-)
