I can do all of the CW filters with Spectrogram in about ONE minute! 
SSB might take a bit longer.  I have to say that before I got the 
program I struggled for a long time with less than optimum results.  And 
you don't need a noise generator; you can use band noise on a closed 
band or a quiet spot.

You wouldn't do a tuneup without a timing light, would you?
