[Elecraft] How to get your own board trace images

That's up to Wayne and Eric, not me! I was just pointing out that large
bitmaps are a problem if the file size is to be kept small.=20

I know that they considered 3 or 4 Mb to be fairly large for a complete
manual. There's a reason for that.=20

Keep in mind that a lot of Elecraft owners live with dial-up connections =
and
some of those have to pay for every byte of data they collect through =
their
internet connection.

You may notice that the K2 manual has the high-resolution photos of the =
rig
in a separate appendix so it can be left out of the "downloadable" =
version.
The reason for going to that trouble in the first place was to keep the
downloadable manual file size smaller. Of course, the person downloading =
it
doesn't get the pictures either.=20

My approach to an assembly procedure is to keep the pictures with the =
text
to the greatest extent possible. But that pushes the file size up. It's =
a
real juggling act, and the circumstances are constantly changing. For =
you 29
mB is "downloadable". I often move that much myself. Yet, when the K2 =
was
released, a megabyte or two was a HUGE file to many people using the
Internet. And, for many, it still is. =20

Hi, Ron.

I can understand Wayne's and Eric's desire for "downloadable" on-line
manuals, but a) half a loaf is better than none, and b) 29 MB is still
downloadable. It just takes a little longer time. My kids routinely
download MUCH larger files for movie trailers. It's not desirable, but =
it
is doable

NOW can we have them? Please? Pretty Please?
