[Elecraft] Elecraft in England

Further to Tony's note, I was tempted to buy my K2 from Berlin.

I have bought from the QRP Project group in the past and the pluses are

NO DUTY
NO VAT (already paid in Germany)
You send no money - you pay after you receive the goods!  This is
unique in my experience.

BUT ... Do your sums carefully.  I found it was considerably cheaper to =
buy
direct from Elecraft even after allowing for postage ($80 in my case) =
and
VAT (there should be no duty to pay if Elecraft complete the customms
declaration correctly, which they do).

For example, even after their January price re-alignment the QRPProject
price for a bare K2 is 750 euros.  At todays rate 0.658 this equals =
=A3493.50.

A K2 from the USA costs $599 + $55 postage (USPS) This equates to =A3355 =
at
current exchange rate.  Add VAT and this equals =A3417.18.  That's =A380 =
less,
which can pay for an SSB kit if you wish.

OK, when you pay by credit card you won't get the best rate but that =
will
apply to both pound to dollar and pound to euro transactions.

I recommend buying direct from California.  And, if you are lucky (as =
some
are) you may not even have to pay the VAT!!!
