Gurus:
I just completed installing the K60XV PCB and the Firmware Rev 2.04
and K2IOC 1.09 controllers, plus the keying mod. Since my K2 is S/N 3478 I
did not go through a VFO calibration. During alignment and test, I change
D19 to Y and peaked the 60M capacitors and the 40M inductors using an
Elecraft noise generator. All went well.
The receiver seems to be working beautifully on all the bands even
though I have not yet tested the transverter operation.
I carefully reassembled the rear section of the bottom cover and
tested the collectors of Q7 and Q8 and show well over 2meg ohms of
resistance on both transistors and a similar resistance on the collector of
Q6.
However, I am not getting any RF output. I can hear the keying
circuit working on my Yaesu 1000MP. But nothing showing on the wattmeter
into the dummy load. The K2's display drops from 2.watts to 0.3. on every
band.
I went back to check the VFO calibration and got a Info 232
message. That did not lead anywhere since In was on the 40M band.
So I need some suggestions on what to do next and ideas on what
seems to be preventing the K2 from producing.
RF output The K2 had been performing well prior to my attempt at
modification and had worked beautifully with my Down East 903 transverter
during the January VHF contest.
                Thanks in advance,
                                             Roger K2 #3478.
