Richard and all,

I disgree ---

If 'very few people' dabbled inside their Elecraft products, there would
have been few changes from the original product - note that the K2 is now 5
years 'mature' and still going strong - and the mods just keep coming along.
Just take a look at the mod list for the K2 - it is quite extensive and is
largely the result of folks 'tinkering' with their K2. Many of the results
of this 'tinkering' has resulted in Elecraft implemented changes to the
original design. Wayne and Eric have designed and released some very fine
products, but their positive responsiveness to users requests and
experiments have kept the products up to date.

For me - that means I do not have to purchase a new transceiver to obtain
the latest and greatest version of Elecraft gear - all I have to do is apply
the mod that applies to the upgrade that I desire. Compare that to the
product support for a competing design that is 5 years old - yes you can
send it back to have it upgraded, but do you want to 'pay the freight' for
that.
